Clifton Park fencer Connor Rounds earns gold

Connor Rounds, pictured to the far right, a 12-year old fencer from Clifton Park and competing for the Capital District Fencing School out of Schenectady, earned a first-place finish in his age group (Y12) in the men’s saber division at the University of New Hampshire as part of the Super Youth Circuit.

Connor was seeded fifth after the initial rounds heading into direct eliminations. He advanced through three elimination rounds, which included a victory over the No. 6 fencer in the United States, to earn his way into the gold medal round.

In the final round, Connor was victorious by winning two out of three bouts earning him the gold medal. The win places Connor among the top 15 on the national ranking list of the United States Fencing Association (USFA).

Connor is trained by coach L. Mark Dolata,
