Skidmore ice hockey on the road at Southern Maine for playoffs

Fourth seeded Southern Maine (7-9-3 ECAC, 10-12-3 overall) will host fifth seeded Skidmore (7-10-2 ECAC, 8-15-2) at a time yet to be announced in the first round of the ECAC-East Division III men’s ice hockey playoffs Saturday, Feb. 27.

No. 1 Norwich (16-1-2, 20-1-4) will host No. 8 University of New England (2-17-0, 3-21-0), No. 2 Babson (9-9-1, 12-11-2) will host No. 7 UMass Boston (6-11-2, 10-12-2) and No. 3 Castleton (7-9-3, 9-11-5) will host No. 6 New England College (6-11-2, 10-12-2) all on Saturday, Feb. 27.

The semifinals are set for Friday, March 5 at the highest remaining seeds and the championship game is set for Saturday, March 6.

The Thorougbreds were playing for the opportunity to host a home playoff contest for only the second time in the ice hockey program's history, but fell to No. 6 Middlebury and No. 8 Williams College over the weekend at home. Southern Maine earned the home playoff contest with a win over Holy Cross.
