Section II bracketology or a lot of work in one afternoon

I had a full day at "the other job" while sports editor Andrew Bernstein and sportswriter Nicole Russo pinch-hit for me at the annual Section II boys and girls basketball seeding announcements.

With brackets and notes in hand they shuffled back to each write a story and I followed up with scans of the available brackets and posted them on Sribd for all to see here.

If there was any disappointment it was that the Ballston Spa boys basketball squad opted out of the tournamet for the second-straight year. We may have a follow-up if coach Tim Moseman is up to it.

Quick pass - Boys No. 1s AA - Shenendehowa and CBA, A- Lansingburgh, B- Fonda, C - Maple Hill and D - Argyle.
For the girls, No. 1s, AA - Colonie, A - Averill Park, B - Watervliet, C - Maple Hill, CC - Greenwich, D - Whitehall.

One point of interest is that the boys side opted for three different play in games for six teams in Class C versus going with the girls tradition of a Class C or CC tournament. With 22 teams competing it is possible, but maybe the committee is waiting to be forced with 24 teams.

I'm converting the boys brackets from the sharp hand-written PDFs that you see now to updateable excel spreadsheets hopefully before Friday's tip-offs.

Since Anonymous didn't leave an e-mail address to respond, here are two links from The Saratogian about Ballston Spa and it's current coach Tim Moseman who returned to the helm this year.

Ballston Spa vs. Shen boys basketball
and Ballston Spa vs. Saratoga boys basketball.

Tim took time off from the high school game, helped out the Albany Patroons as well as Schenectady Community College, but was offered the job prior to this season from the school district.
