The Saratogian's epic Class AA Super Bowl package

O.K. It's time to brag because the management and staff at 20 Lake Avenue, the home of The Saratogian and Community News just outdid themselves in less than four days to put out one of the greatest preview sections of all time this morning.

It was a perfect storm for the building as two Saratoga County teams will face each other in the Section II Class AA Super Bowl game at 7 p.m. tonight, but it wasn't without the passion, help and assistance of so many people in the building.

Our publisher, Mike O'Sullivan gave the green light to a special section and provided some ideas from previous publications that he had been a part of as a guide. Our managing editor, donned yet another hat, as sports editor, to dish out and follow-up on the various assignments and kudos to our advertising staff and Lauren Rose to provide the spirit in sales, making the business community a huge part of this event.

The entire sports staff provided copy for the special section and I think it came together beautifully because I was only tasked with one story. Thanks to our managing editor in keeping my dreams in check with the reality of a tight schedule.

Enough cannot be said about our news copy editor Paul Tackett who laid out the entire section, with a full plate of graphics, stories and photos all flowing in late into the project and who also hand designed our field graphic. Our composing room cranked out graphics, layouts and of course, great advertisements for the section.

Thanks to our chief photographer Eric Miller who made numerous trips to both the Saratoga and Ballston Spa campuses to make sure every player was included in the section.

Along the way, many eyes looked over those pages, took calls, typed in rosters along with providing input.

All this was done during a week that included stellar coverage pre- and post- election night, another long night for news and Tackett and Co.

We've won awards in the past, news and sports combined, but this week was just a great week to be a part of this building.

So go out and buy a copy, two or three, it is a great event tonight, something people will be talking about for years, so grab your keepsake today!

Don't forget to check back on my twitter site, for game updates and for more photos and Saturday's edition for a recap of tonight's "Battle of Route 50."
