Terry, Facteau win Saratoga National Bank XC 5k

Chuck Terry from Albany wins Saratoga National Bank Cross Country 5k in 15:31. He was the winner of the Southern Saratoga YMCA 5k earlier this year and beat out Jonathan Wetzel by 20 seconds, taking him at the Ferndale Hill at the two-mile mark.

This was his first cross country race, perferring the road race courses to get a rythm during his running. Sunday was a warm-up for the annual Stockade-A-Thon race in Schenectady.

Peru's Sara Facteau was the top female at 19:07, making her first return to road racing since she graduated from Peru High School in 1994. Sunday was her fork in the road, a top finish would propel her to continue with her competitive running.

The last time she took to the Saratoga Spa State Park course was as a high school harrier competing at the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Invitational.

Now she's committeed to traveling to compete in more road races. She was 30th overall out of 225 runners.

Cheyenne Munson, a 10-year-old from Niskayuna took top honors in the Saratoga National 1k Kids Classic. She was first across the line, earned a medal and a coupon from Ben & Jerry's.

She is following in the footsteps of her sister, Ada Lauterbach, a sophomore at the University at Albany who finished 10th yesterday at the 43rd annual UAlbany Invitational in 18:05.

Race Director Jeffrey Allen said the event had more pre-registered runners than it had finishers from last year's event, showing its popularity. Race day registration was down due to the poor weather forecast, but once again, they were wrong.

I have included the top age-group finishers on this post and will add another post with all 225 finishers. We don't post agate on our Saratogian web-site and don't have a link to simply add here.
