Stevens, Goodrich win BHBL Apple Run 5k

Scotia's Greg Stevens ran away with the annual Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Apple Run 5k in 17:50 on a brisk Saturday morning, leading 167 runners throughout the side streets of Burnt Hills on a cool, crisp morning.

The Scotia runner is gearing up for the annual Stockade-a-thon and actually ran in the morning prior to the race and planned on running back home after picking up his first place plaque.

Joyce Goodrich was the top female finisher at 21:15. The 51-year-old runner has made attempts to compete at the annual Rotary run since its inception.

The event also had something for the young at heart, a kids fun run in back of O'Rourke Middle School, two laps around the grassy backyard. Each young runner received a ribbon for their one, or two-lap accomplishment.

Most of the young harriers were all smiles on the first lap, the half-mile completed, but the second lap caused some to bail on the project, while others mustered the strength to finish out the task at hand.

I'll link to the full results and a finishing picture gallery on the Community News web-site later this week. With some new technology on the way, music could follow?? Who knows?
