Ballston Spa fb homecoming - Scotties romp earn No. 2 seed

Well, Nate Rider is at the 'A' game tonight as Shenendehowa travels to Saratoga Springs for the regular season finale at 7 pm.

I'm at the Ballston Spa regular season finale vs. Guilderland for the Scotties senior night.

I'll update via my Twitter (on the right here) and pass along a recap of the night and any playoff seeding implications.

AFTERWARD -- I was as busy updating my Twitter account as the Scotties were scoring last night against Guilderland in the 39-0 rout.

Ballston Spa ground up 401 yards against the Dutchmen defense, held Guilderland to 14 yards on the ground and secured the No. 2 seed in the Section II Class AA playoffs, hosting Bethlehem (? to be confirmed) next Friday.

The Scotties scored on six of its seven offensive possessions Friday night with quarterback Mark Seager showing why he is a leading candidate for Player of the Year honors from every voting source, from Section II to The Saratogian. He suffered an ankle injury in the third game of the year against Shenendehowa, took several weeks off against weaker opponents and was held back last week against Saratoga on defense early on.

He was let loose on Friday night and it showed -- 171 yards on 16 carries and two TDs.

Bowen said he doesn't have to worry about keeping his Scotties focused. They were at No. 2 seed in 2004 and fell to No. 7 Albany by a touchdown in the first round. He's not about to allow that to happen again.

The official seedings will be released Sunday night at 6 p.m. I'll have a look at the match-ups and the schedule for the crossover contests too.

Here's the link to the story in The Saratogian.
