Nice night for a drive...:(

It's officially 74 miles from Saratoga Springs to the Chatham Baseball Complex where the Saratoga National Little Leaguers were scheduled to face Colonie in the Section III final.

Until the rain came minutes before the official start of the game. A thunderstorm moved through, soaking the infield and making a mess of the outfield grass.

Coaches, managers and staff from Saratoga, Colonie and host Chatham swept, pooled and pushed the water to make the infield almost to a ready state. The grass behind home plate and the outfield didn't stand up to the umpiring crews inspection.

The game is set for 5:45 pm Tuesday, but any more rain at the site could move it back North, closer to home.

The pitchers gain a day of rest for their arms, but no game day rest is granted from the rainout.
