Cal Ripken 9s ENY locals Saturday re-cap

9-year-old locals re-cap
Clifton Park White 8, Poughkeepsie 4
Clifton Park White gave up a three-run lead to Poughkeepsie in the top of the fourth inning, but bounced back with four runs of their own in the latter half for an 8-4 comeback victory.
Jack Nelson walked to lead off the fourth and was plated on at triple by Benson. Devon Smith followed with a walk and Geordan Buffoline singled him home before Brandon Roberts stroked a double. He would eventually come around to score after Zach Goldberg walked, stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch.
Benson tacked on an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth on his own, reaching on a double and then moving around the bags on three wild pitches.

Amsterdam 7, Wilton 3
Amsterdam posted four runs in the first inning, forcing the hosts back on their heels in the morning contest.
Wilton scratched out a run in the fourth inning after Ben Wellson walked and scored after a single by Anthony McCarthy and Ethan Mania reached on an error by the right fielder.
The hosts threatened in the sixth inning, when Cameron Adams reaching first to lead off the inning, he moved around on a passed ball and stolen base with Max Lee following him with a base on balls. He moved up two bases on steals before both scored on an Amsterdam error.

Clifton Park Green 8, Queensbury 4
The second Southern Saratoga County entry doubled up its North Country rival, 8-4 Saturday afternoon at Gavin Park courtesy of a pair of three-run innings early on.
Cole Vincenzi reached on a one-out walk, advancing on Cole Charrette’s two-out single. Anthony Sgambellone delivered a one-out RBI single before Matt Bishop delivered his single, putting Clifton Park up, 4-0.
Clifton Park Green tacked on three more in the third as Nick DeBrino took a one-out walk followed by singles from Kyle Douglas and Vincenzi before Mike Pizziketti’s sacrifice.
The Green added an insurance run in the fifth when Vincenzi reached base for the third consecutive time with a one-out walk and Mike Shields delivered with a pinch-hit single.

Clifton Park White, 5, East Fishkill 4
Clifton Park White continued its winning ways, dropping Dutchess Country entry Fishkill, 5-4.
With the score knotted at four runs apiece in the bottom of the sixth inning, Carter DeCarr led off with a single and stole second, moving over on Ryan Grande’s single. He would score the game winner on a passed ball with Jack Nelson at the plate.
Zach Goldberg scored the opening run for Clifton Park. He walked to start the inning, stole second and moved to third on Devon Smith’s groundout. He scored on Geordan Buffoline’s RBI single.
The White team had a three-run third when Goldberg led off with a single followed by a hit from Smith. Buffoline moved the pair over with his groundout, scoring on a Brandon Roberts single and an RBI baseknock by Carter DeCarr.
