Umpire ejects Mohawks PA announcer for commercial

Sometimes when you change assignments you worry that you are going to miss something great. On Tuesday night I decided not to travel to Amsterdam to see the Phillies take on the Mohawks and I simply missed something mind-boggling...the ejection of a PA announcer.

Amsterdam PA announcer Bob Malicki was ejected by the field umpire after playing a commercial for a local eye doctor after a questionable third strike on Mohawk batter Derek Marshall.

They say timing is everything.

He was ejected, but didn't know it and an inning later, the home team manager was also ejected for Marshall still being at the microphone.

Only in the NYCBL...with a new group of umpires this year it has been an experience for both parties but this certainly proves that this current group has no sense of humor.

You can read the story from the Leader Herald here.
