Saratoga baseball drops Shen, 12-2

Here are the game notes I sent up to the blog from new Blackberry Curve 8330 during the Saratoga at Shenendehowa Suburban Council baseball game Wednesday afternoon:

Saratoga wins and is in sectionals over rival Shenendehowa

Saratoga baseball qualifies for sectionals 1st time in 6 yrs. First 2 wins over Shen in a season in 19 years!

Shen makes it interesting

Scott Buniak led off with a solo home run to start Shen's final at-bats. Andrew Kalish reached on an error by the second baseman and Bryan Marotta reached on an error by the shortstop. Brandon Cogswell ripped a single to center chasing Blue Streak starter Ford Plowman.
Reliever Luke Fauler was greeted by a Dempsey single up the middle, cutting the lead, 12-5. Zach Makarewitz followed with an RBI single to cut it to 12-6.
A pop-out ends the threat and the game.

Saratoga won't let up
A nine-run lead isn't enough for Saratoga as Leejay Pollachi lead off with a double to center, advanced on Kyle Willmott's bunt single.
Erich Lange followed with a long drive to right, near the line that scored Pollacchi on the tag for the official 10-run Blue Streak lead.

Hit parade continues for Blue Streaks

Shen's second reliever was welcomed just like his pedecessors, with hits and runs by Saratoga.
Ben Cook led off by taking a pitch from Rainville in the side and Kyle Willmott followed with a single to right. Erich Lange followed with an RBI single to center, scoring Cook.
Mike Allen walked, but his ball four bit the dust in front of the plate allowing Willmott to score.
Chris Davis stung a Rainville pitch into center, scoring Lange for a commanding 11-2 lead.

Hits keep coming for Blue Streaks
Leejay Pollachi wasn't done for the day against rival Shenendehowa, drilling a Chris Nyman pitch over the centerfield fence to give Saratoga a commanding 8-2 lead. He hit a two-run double to the wall in the fourth.

Nick Rainville comes on in relief.

Marotta homers, SS up 6-2

Shenendehowa senior catcher and Clifton Park Babe Ruth World Series alum, Bryan Marotta hits a solo shot over left center, cutting into the lead, 6-2.

Saratoga up 6-0

Saratoga's Erich Lange leads off top of fifth with a single, advances on a passed ball and scores on Mike Allen's double in the right-center gap for a 6-0 lead.

The run came off Shen reliever Chris Nyman who replaced starter Tyler Dehmer.

Saratoga up big on Shen, 5-0
Saratoga's Scott Hladick led off with a single up the middle, to second on Tyler Dehmer's errant pick off move.
Scott Allen singles, beating out throw to first deep from shortstop.
Tyler Shattuck's flare over first base scores Hladick, Saratoga up 1-0.
Ford Plowman sac bunts runners to second and third.

LeeJay Pollachi drills stand-up double that hits center field fence, scoring Allen and Shattuck, up 3-0.
That didn't last long as Ben Cook launches Dehmer's offering over the left centerfield wall for a 5-0 Blue Streak lead.
