Diary of a Mad Sportswriter

Stan Hudy is a sportswriter for The Saratogian and Community News. He covers high school and youth sports in the Saratoga County area as well as writing a weekly book review on sports books. He's not just a "stick and ball" sportswriter, he's willing to take on any sport as well as any subject.

A full day for me of rowing and it's only just begun

The trip down was uneventful, got some work done in the truck and seeing SRAA president Lee West and her right-hand gal, Donna, is always a pleasure.

Mercer County Park is one of the most expansive, georgeous parks I have ever been though, the state and county need to be commended for their efforts.

The teams spent time rigging their boats, taking some practice time on the water while I lined up my plan for Saturday and typed out some boat line-ups.

All this was under a shaded pavillion, with power to my laptop and some Napster streaming of The 80's, The 90's and Hot Rock radio stations.

Here Saratoga Rowing Association's Christina Dagle is rigging her boat before practice.

Kudos to the Burnt Hills Rowing Association for a wonderful ziti and meatball dinner on the shores of Mercer Lake courtesy of Tom and the staff of the BHRA. I ate like a marathoner carbo-loading before Boston..great job!
