Wilton, Clifton Park set for Cal Ripken state finals

Dramatic finishes set stage for state finals

Let's hope that all the greatest moments in Cal Ripken Baseball at the 11-year-old level weren't used up last night at the Bogt Area Baseball Complex in the Eastern New York State Tournament semifinals.

The Wilton All-Stars punched their ticket to the Mid-Atlantic Regional after a come-from-behind, extra inning victory powered by Nick Anderson’s shots heard around ENY.

The stage was set for Wilton's dramatic victory when the Clifton Park Bulldogs dropped Niskayuna into the consolation bracket in thier final at-bats courtesy of Dan Busold’s walk off single .

One other local squad, the Clifton Park Bombers have one last chance to earn a berth in the Mid-Atlantic Regional beginning Aug. 8, but must beat Niskayuna tonight in its 5:30 p.m. contest.

The state championship final is set for an 8 p.m. first pitch.

Directions: From the North (Rt. 87) - Travel South to Exit 8, taking a left off the exit. Go straight to light at the intersection of Route 9. Take a right onto Rt. 9, go across the Crescent Bridge and past the landfill. Approximately two miles later at second traffic light take a left into the Bogt Area Baseball Complex.
