Lauer turns green to black this week

I know this is normally, 99.99% a sports information blog, but since I've taken some time off from blogging, writing and making videos, (under direct orders from several of my bosses), I'm rested and fired up.

With a new month and another goal to be an "insane blogger", my A.M. television viewing with my wife just put me over the edge.

Here is the e-mail I sent to The Today Show regarding its own hypocrisy regarding its "NBC goes Green week" promotions followed up by the inane "Where in the world is Matt Lauer?" segments.

Here's my e-mail that won't see the light of day, but will end up in trash can of some intern at NBC.

Apparently for NBC, "Green Week" meant bags of cash from advertisers as millions of viewers tuned in to see at what far away location Matt Lauer is this week for "Where in the World is Matt?".

Jump off a week of being environmentally and politically correct and then send Lauer 32,000 miles in the next five days. What kind of carbon footprint do you think the face of NBC just left on the planet Earth.

What is the size of the footprint left by the NBC advance staff who went there ahead of Lauer, all during "Green Week"?

Let's have MSNBC do an expose on the carbon footprint left by Lauer during the past decade of "Where in the world?"

With the internet, Discovery Channel, National Geographic etc, does NBC really need an unshaven talking head flying around the world for 10 minutes worth of fill?

My suggestion, next year, why not make it "Where in the United States is Matt Lauer in his Prius?"

Courtesy of auto-repy technology, here is the top of the e-mail I got back minutes after I sent in my e-mail, along with a long list of who to e-mail for story ideas, how to get my 100 grandmother's photo on with Willard Scott..
