G3 notes - Westchester 9, Long Island 1

Here are my game notes from the Westchester Vipers versus Long Island Rebels Saturday at the NYSAHA 16U midget state tournament.

It's over, fortunately for both squads it couldn't end soon enough.

As the scoring continued to get out of hand, tempers rose so did the penalty count.

Westchester proved to be the offensive juggernaut of the tournament with its 9-1 win and now Long island must re-group to prove that they are contenders.
Credit Viper goalie Dan Feliu for stopping 24 of the 25 shots he faced for the Westchester win.

Westchester leads on the scoreboard and Long Island leads in penalties in the third game of the tournament.

The Vipers put four goals past Rebels goaltender Joseph Eppedio in the first period along with tallies in the second and early in the third.

Long Island forward Nicholas Souza scored the lone goal for the Rebels so far at 10:47 of the first period, unassisted.

Westchester saw five different scorers enter the scoresheet in the first two periods of play, including christopher Abramo, Robert Dorgan, Matthew Olivero, Chris Halpin and a scorer to be named later (not on sheet).

Dorgan tallied his second goal at 2:50 of the third and Bradlee Pesce entered the goal column at 8:53 giving the Vipers a commanding 7-1 lead.

Long island isn't helpless, putting 22 shots so far on Dan Feliu and only converting once.
