G9 - Notes - New Hartford 6, Freeport 2

New Hartford became the first team to advance to Sunday's semifinals with a 6-2 win over the Long Island-based Freeport Arrows.

New Hartford (3-0) will have to find out who its oponnent will be after today's play is complete.

G9 - New Hartford 5, Freeport 1 through 2
Earlier I posted that New Hartford was in the driver's seat for the swmifinals and Coach James Zalewski corrected me that his squad needed a win, a tie or a loss by nomore than one goal to advance to Sunday's semifinals.

I stand corrected and his squad responded, taking a 5-1 lead and outshooting the Freeport Arrows by a 3 to 1 margin through two periods.

After a sluggish start, New Hartford went up at 2:40 of the first.

Freeport made it interesting, tying it up with a powerplay goal at 9:31 of the second.

From there, the floodgates opened.

New Hartford sent what appeared to be an endless barrage of shots on Freeport goalie Kyle Rebman breaking through on four different occassions in a four-minute span, taking a commanding 5-1 lead.

Shots New Hartford: 31, Freeport 13.
