Good Sports announced..are you on it?

The New York State Public High School Athletic Association released its Spring 2007 Sportsmanship T-shirt Award recipients in nine sports.

Honeoye Falls-Lima (Section V), Olean City School District (Section VI) and Ossining High School (Section I) were honored at the NYSPHSAA's annual banquet for state sportsmanship honors and received a bright yellow banner.

This is the 12th year that the state association has recognized schools that "have developed proactive approaches in keeping sportsmanship in the forefront with their students, coaches, spectators and communities."

NOTE: None of the schools honored were in the Albany Capital Region (Section II).

It was amusing that the photo used on the page was taken during the boys basketball tournament at the Glens Falls Civic Center of the Glens Falls student section, noticable by their red school sweatshirts and hats.

Individual winners were also announced throughout the state, including softball players Shenendehowa's Kayla Hines and South Glens Falls' Rachel Linehan.

Other Section II recipients included:
Baseball: Erik Kunitzsch, Fort Plain
Baseball: Kevin Knack, Ichabod Crane
Softball: Kayla Hines, Shenendehowa
Softball: Jessica Blasi, Hoosic Valley
Softball: Rachel Linehan, South Glens Falls
Boys golf: Raymond Smith, North Warren
Boys track: Emory Parsons, Columbia
Girls track: Jane Burroughs, Fonda
Boys tennis: Sam Woods, Cambridge

Section II doesn't compete in girls golf, but should Section II NOT be represented in girls and boys lacrosse?

Was it an oversight, wasn't anyone even nominated, or is that just the state of the sport in Section II? Hmmmmmmm...
