Cold, rain who cares at the Fish?

It wouldn't be the Head of the Fish without some rain and usually a lot of it.
Despite the falling raindrops, the water is flat and friendly for the 700 boats taking to Fish Creek today.
The event is running a few minutes ahead of schedule, a rarity at any regatta and that should lift the spirits of any spectator hiding underneath a poncho or umbrella on the shore on at the Route 9P bridge.
I'm currently tucked under the Skidmore Bridge at the starting line, hiding from the elements, but still fully suited up in wet weather gear.
Olympian and often Saratoga-based Sloan DuRoss looked powerful at the start in the men's open single. Rumor has it that his fish head trophy has a patriotic theme to it.
Singles row through noon before opening it up to the fours and eights.
