Phils threaten, but no runs

The Phillies threatened in their half of the sixth after Jon Nicolla (Duke) reached on a two-out infield single and was followed by Bryan Rose (Kentucky) with a walk.
Bennington's Tommy Mejia didn't look comfortable on the mound and earned a conversation by his manger and again by his catcher, Paul Panik (Canisius).
The righty buckled down and sent down Ryan Powers (Mississippi State) on strikes to end the threat.
The Phillies righty, Mike Fiers returned for the top of the seventh and finished quickly with a stellar defense behind him.
Jon Nicolla dug out a throw from Brian Harris and the shortstop grabbed a high hopper, fired to first for the third out.
