Notes SS v Watertown 6/30

More Phils Notes
Tonight's starters - The Phillies (11-6) send out left-hander Joe Zongol (RPI) 1-0 against Watertown (7-13) Luis Castillo. Saratoga remains 3.5 games behind Glens Falls who have a doubleheader versus Bennington at 5 and 7 p.m.

Twin Bill - The Phillies will host Amsterdam for two contests Sunday at East Side Rec. The first pitch is scheduled at 5 p.m.

Opps - The Little Falls broadcast staff announced a double header at Saratoga July 5, but didn't confirm it with co-owner Keith Rogers. Thursday's game will be a 7 p.m. start for the single contest. No date has been announced yet.

Numbers game - Phillies announcer Andy Santillo and I sat down and finally were able to piece together the second game of the year at Bennington. The game was suspended due to darkness and resumed at East Side Rec prior to the June 20 game.
After both games were completed and Andy started to enter the rest of the game, he realized the game was started five batters later than it ended. Since it was more than a week later, no infraction could even be considered.
After several hundred key strokes and several computerized substitutions, the game was finished and the stats should take effect in 24 hours.
It was worth it for Donnie Webb (Oklahoma State) went 5-for-7 in the contest. With the game included, Webb went from a .273 batting average to .315.

A Saint arrives - Saratoga Central Catholic grad Matt O'Rourke was in a Phillies uniform sporting No. 8. He remained at Spartanburg Methodist through June 24 for classes.

J. D. Returns - Rutgers senior and Shenendehowa High graduate Jason Downey is expected to make his first pitching appearence Sunday versus Amsterdam. A sore shoulder was diagnosed after an MRI earlier this month. The Scarlet Knights went deep into the post-season and Downey was a key factor.
